Ch-ch-ch-Changes

The Thrashers made some pretty big changes just 4 business days after the end of  their season. The Thrashers have promoted Don Waddell to team President and have hired Rick Dudley, their former assistant GM as the new General Manager and have let go the entire coaching staff.

To say we as fans didn't see any of that coming would be wrong. I was a little surprised by the coaching staff changes but it's understandable. The incoming GM wants to put his stamp on the team, if you're going to be held accountable you want to put the people in place under you.

On a personal note, I've had an opportunity to speak with the entire coaching staff from time to time and they are all very nice guys and very classy...I hate to see that for them on a personal level...but this is not just sports...but a business and that's what happens in the business world.

I'm not the worlds biggest expert on what coaches are even available. I know that Craig McTavish is out there and I would love to see him come to Atlanta. It would provide instant credibility to the organization and could make us much more attractive to the free agent market.

Many folks will be happy that Don will not have a immediate impact on the team but are still a little disappointed that he will be in a position to still have influence. I think most people would prefer to see his influence on the team limited to whether or not he bought a ticket like the rest of us.

The moves made by management at least show that accountability may be the new watchword in the Thrashers organization and they are looking to make some big changes.

Great post! I was happy about DWad's dealings with the team being limited. I wasn't 100% surprised about Anderson, but a little shocked. The Spirit aren't known for making changes. I was a little surprised about the entire coaching staff.

I'm excited to see who our bench boss will be next season!
